Save Your Money For The Children
Another date night (this time we’re actually venturing outside my apartment, woo!) is upon me, so that means there isn’t a lot of time to spend on my daily post. “Grace” by Supergrass was the first (but I’m sure not the last) LRB export track I wasn’t able to take 1st place on in the ScoreHero rankings, not even temporarily! At the time I entered my best score, I was ranked 3rd, but within an hour I got bumped down to 4th, bah! I’m pretty sure that the extra points I missed come from the squeeze at the end of the optimal path’s 1st OD activation…and hey, knowledge is power, right? Anyway, I’m just happy to still be in the top 5 on this one, for however long that lasts!

I Still Need You But I Don’t Want You Now
Was hoping to get out of work early today and maybe make it down to the Village Pourhouse for Rock Band night for the first time in a month, but a few late clients kept that from happening. Made it home around 8pm, cleaned up a little, tackled the evening’s FC (more LEGO Rock Band export tracks coming your way!) and settled in to make a dent in my stockpile of DVR’d Ugly Betty episodes. Debating now whether to stick with Betty or watch the latest Tabatha’s Salon Takeover (hey, I’m an aspiring stylist, so sue me!) and figured this would be a good time to take a short break and write about last night’s FC of “Dreaming Of You” by The Coral. Aren’t you just thrilled?!

Pay No Mind To What They Say, Doesn’t Matter Anyway
Ah, another girly song from my childhood released as DLC! Of course I couldn’t resist singing “Our Lips Are Sealed” by Go-Go’s for the blog…I just had to wait a few days for a path to be posted! My highest-scoring run of the half hour session came just six and a half minutes after I started, and though I sounded better on a bunch of my later runs, I never came close to squeezing as many points out of my first OD activation as I did on my 2nd FC. For the moment I have the highest score on any platform for this track, and of course 1st place on the 360, but that isn’t saying much since I’m the only person who’s bothered to enter a score for that console so far! Yeah, it’s easy to be #1 when there’s absolutely no competition, but I’m sure that will change soon enough…an awesome song like this won’t stay unplayed by the masses for long!

Take A Bright Star And A-Place It On Your Forehead
Hmm, what to say about FCing T-Rex’s “Ride A White Swan”, the latest in my mini-run of LRB export tracks? Well, it took less than 10 minutes to get through my first 100% run, and within 15 minutes of starting, I’d taken the 1st place spot in the ScoreHero rankings. So why did I keep going for another 20 minutes?

She Holds You Captivated In Her Palm
It’s the end of another work week, and yet again I’m feeling sickly. Luckily, I have someone here with me to help make me feel better, so it isn’t all bad. Of course, that means I can’t spend much time writing this post! I picked KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See” for last night’s FC because it was sorta familiar to me and I liked the bits of it I could recall, so I figured this was a good excuse to learn the rest of it. It took me just under half an hour to earn my 1st place FC, and while I was pretty pleased with how I sounded during that run, I admit there were still a few phrases that I had to mumble my way through. No matter though…at the very least I’ll be way better at singing this song than I could have hoped for before this particular FC session, and that counts as a win in my book! Ok ok, the 1st place ranking is nice too…while it lasts!

Could It Be Could It Be That You’re Joking With Me
Just finished a 3-hour rehearsal session with one of my Rocky Horror castmates in preparation for his premiere performance on our stage tomorrow night and boy am I beat! I’m also starving, but I wanted to try to get this article out of the way first before raiding the fridge for a late dinner, so here goes!

Put Up Your Dukes Let’s Get Down To It!
Happy Thanksgiving! Things I’m thankful for this year: my family, great friends, having the cutest muppet puppy to cuddle with, getting my first job in my new career, being asked to do another play with the best theater group in Queens, the awesome new guy I’ve just started seeing, and of course my loyal blog readers! I’m also thankful that I didn’t have an entry on ScoreHero for one of my favorite songs to sing in RB2, Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”, which I did for last night’s FC. Even though I lost 24 points on a phrase during the 2nd OD activation on my best run, I was still able to tie for 3rd place AND sound pretty decent while doing so, and that was plenty good enough for me! Now it’s time to eat a piece of apple pie before heading to bed to sleep off my big turkey dinner. Night!

I’m Gonna Start A Revolution From My Bed
Not going to write much about FCing “Don’t Look Back In Anger” by Oasis because – you guessed it – I have company over! Hooray for pre-Thanksgiving date night! One thing I DO want to relate: for some reason I had a really tough time hitting the correct pitch at the start of the last word of the song’s first two phrases, even though I had no difficulty latching on to the same note during melodically identical phrases later in the song. Even when I came close enough for the game to think I was singing the right pitch I sounded downright awful, prompting me to restart the song a bunch of times even though I’d passed those phrases with Awesomes. It took me about half an hour to finish with a score that broke the top 10 on ScoreHero (9th place, to be precise), at which point I called it a night. Hope your ears don’t bleed too badly listening to this one!

Your Very First Kiss Was Your First Kiss Goodbye
I was a bit wary of attempting to FC Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name” for the blog (even though I’ve been wanting this song in Rock Band FOREVER!), mostly because the optimal path on record had an asterisk next to the first activation notation. Usually this means that you have to use the oh-so-evil guide button trick to get OD to deploy, but the path’s contributor posted in the forums that his asterisk simply meant the window was difficult to activate normally rather than impossible, and that no guide button trick was needed. I figured I’d give it a whirl and see exactly how tough it was, especially since the finicky window came on the first activation in the path, rather than the 2nd or 3rd.

Come On Come On And The World’s A Little Brighter
Picked up a used copy of GTA IV to amuse the boy while I write my daily post. Of course, all he seems to want to do in the game is steal cop cars & mow people down (what else is new?), so I’m a touch distracted by the sound of police sirens and gunfire at the moment. Did “Accidentally In Love” by Counting Crows for my FC yesterday…mostly because the song reminds me of the movie Shrek and makes me smile. Got through a bunch of 100% runs in the half hour I spent working on the song, all giving me the exact same score which tied for 1st place on the ScoreHero leaderboards. Basically I kept at it as long as I did to learn the song’s lyrics and avoid a total mumble-fest on my video…hope I succeeded!
